City: Baker City, OR
In 2009, Cutters Edge received an Oregon Business Development Fund (OBDF) loan of $280,000 to help fund the acquisition of 3.22 acres of land and to construct a 7,500-square-foot manufacturing facility employing 17 full-time workers.
Cutters Edge has manufactured fire rescue saws exclusively since 1984. The saws are engineered and built to work specifically in the conditions faced by fire and rescue crews and the company believes it manufactures the toughest saws in the world for cutting steel and concrete.
An $18,500 loan from the Governor's Strategic Reserve Fund (SRF) helped Business Oregon recruit the company to eastern Oregon from California. In addition, the OBDF loan, in conjunction with an additional loan from Banner Bank, helped the company construct its manufacturing facility in Elkhorn Industrial Park, a state certified industrial site, in Baker City.
