Innovation in Oregon

The Oregon Innovation Council (Oregon InC) brings together leaders from private business and higher education to drive the state's innovation strategy—expanding markets for Oregon companies, creating jobs across the state and leveraging Oregon's strengths to compete in the global economy.

Oregon InC develops, champions and implements strategic initiatives that make existing Oregon companies more profitable by making them more competitive and sustainable; bolsters innovative research that leads to not only new discoveries but new companies built around them, and increases access start-up companies have to public and private funding.

Business Oregon’s work and council's guidance creates a synergy between the innovative ideas of the state's research universities and the know-how of entrepreneurs and business people who can help turn those ideas into the next generation of Oregon businesses. Business Oregon knows innovation is critical businesses success throughout the state.

To do that, the Legislature allocates money which the council invests in emerging and established industries, and funds three Signature Research Centers dedicated to bringing together the R&D capabilities of Oregon’s four research universities.
