Bridgetown Natural Foods Growing Fast
Bridgetown Natural Foods is expanding rapidly now employing 140 at a new 110,000 square-foot processing plant in southeast Portland.
More than 30 economic development professionals came together in 2011 to launch the TEAM Oregon Food Processing initiative. The TEAM leverages resources to create a proactive and strategic statewide industry recruitment effort.
The TEAM's mission is to identify growing food processors, build relationships and generate business recruitment leads. The initiative supports Oregon's existing food producers by developing stronger resources and valuable information about the state's $12.3 billion food processing industry. TEAM Oregon Food Processing collects industry data and valuable resources to help recruit, retain and expand the food processing industry in Oregon.
The TEAM is stragtecially positioned to support the food processing industry in our local communities, sending a strong collective message to out-of-state companies that Oregon is open for business and that we welcome their business to expand into our state.
TEAM Oregon Food Processing participates in three key trade shows to build recruitment leads, develop industry relationships and advance our message that Oregon is open for business.
NWFPA attracts more than 3,000 food processing industry professionals to Portland, Oregon. More than 400 exhibitor booths focus on the food manufacturing supply chain. The TEAM hosted a booth in 2014 to successfully highlight the importance and presence of this industry in our region.
Held in San Francisco, this is a much larger expo with more than 1,300 exhibitors and 18,000 attendees participating, allowing opportunities for members to meet directly with qualified leads. TEAM members walk the show and interact with exhibitors to support Oregon businesses and to showcase Oregon's food processing capabilities.
NPEW has approximately 5,000 exhibiting companies from around the world. Attendance is estimated at 70,000. More than 70 Oregon companies participate in the event. The TEAM exhibited in 2012 and 2013, and received qualified leads from the show. In 2014, the TEAM invested a booth that allowed room for early food entrepreneurs and their product to actively participate. A database of targeted contacts has been developed, and our booth has enabled Oregon to have more dominant presence. In 2013 and 2014, the TEAM hosted a reception with strong outcomes. Donations from several companies showcased Oregon products including Oregon beer, wine and cider. Attendance continues to exceed expectations and feedback indicates this was a valuable networking event for Oregon companies.
