International Trade Internship Program

Business Oregon has unpaid part-time and full-time international trade internship opportunities in Business Oregon's Portland office throughout the year. The internship program includes significant work on clean technology/renewable energy.

A list of potential projects for interns includes:

  • Conducting market research for growth industries, including supply chains.
  • Conducting country-specific research for key markets.
  • Conducting trade mission/show research, planning, recruitment and execution, including drafting trade mission/show-specific handouts.
  • Conducting research on foreign direct investment in Oregon.
  • Drafting company/trade association contact lists and/or company profiles for key industries.
  • Drafting/updating Oregon trade fact sheets for key/emerging trading partners.

We are open to interns' ideas, especially work in areas that use their strengths (professional, linguistic, etc.).

We are focused on the following growth industries:

  • Clean Technology (renewable energy, green building, electric vehicles, environmental technology)
  • Wood and Forest Products
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • High Technology
  • Outdoor Gear and Activewear

For international students, curricular practical training (CPT) or optional practical training (OPT) paperwork is required prior to the start of the internship.
